Profile

Welcome to the Association of Women in Property:

Women represent only 15% of the property and construction industry workforce, a balance still to be redressed. The Association of Women in Property aims to do just this. We are a national organisation that seeks to enhance the profile of women in this sector, both by providing a dynamic forum for women in these professions and by encouraging and nurturing aspiring talent.

The National Association of Women in Property was founded 25 years ago. It is the premier networking association for women in the property and construction industries actively promoting careers within the industry, providing mentoring opportunities and is regarded as a professional, informed opinion maker.

Our Beginning:

It was a chance meeting between architect, Elspeth Clements and surveyor, Michelle Foster in 1987 that led to the founding of The Association of Women in Property, initially as a networking platform for professional women in the property sector. Now, 25 years later, we have over 1,000 members across twelve branches nationwide, from Aberdeen to Cornwall.

The role of the Association is as relevant today as it was in 1987. Our approach is always to offer friendly support and a nurturing backdrop to the professional lives of our diverse membership. We represent all disciplines within the property and construction industry, providing a forum for business opportunities, the exchanging of views, networking and personal development.

Indeed, with over 300 events across the country each year, members have plenty of scope to explore their potential.

Careers & Mentoring:

The development and growth of women in property and construction is central to everything we do. As an organisation we run CPD events, including site visits, talks from professional groups and seminars on new legal and planning legislation. Our events pages will give you details on this activity.

With the current economic downturn, now is the time to make sure you're up to speed with the market, to help gain professional know-how and business contacts.

Women in Property is proud of our Mentoring programme. Please visit our Mentoring pages for further details. Download the WiP mentoring application form here.

All our branches are also involved in school careers talks and roadshows, when our members describe the work they do in their professional capacity to help encourage youngsters into the industry.
